His Living Word

His Living Word

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures

(James 1:18).

     In the Old Testament, the children of Israel were told to obey the Word (Deuteronomy 11:26-28). However, in the New Testament, we’re not told to obey the Word but to do the Word, and the reason we can do the Word is that we’re born of the Word. There’s a big difference between doing the Word and obeying the commandments. Doing the Word in the New Testament doesn’t mean obeying the commandments; it means living the Word; acting out what it says.

           In 2 Corinthians 3:2-3, the Apostle Paul said, “…ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ….” Do you know what that means? It means we’re “living letters.” Who is Jesus? He’s the Living Word: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Here, the Apostle John gives personality to the Word! Furthermore, the Bible tells us that we were born again by the Word of God: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

           A dog will of necessity, give birth to a dog. A human being will give birth to another human. In the same vein, the Word of God will only give birth to the Word. So you see, you’re the offspring of the Word; you’re the expression of His life. You’re His living message to the world; His living Word to the world. Blessed thought!

           In John 12:24, the Lord Jesus said: “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” He was referring to Himself here. He was the Word of God made flesh, and God gave Him to die and come up with a harvest of what was sown—the Word. You’re the offspring of the Word; you’re the Word made flesh today. You’re the expression of His will in the earth. This is the real Christian life; it’s the daily expression of the Word.

Prayer

I’m born of the Word;

therefore, my life is the life of the Word! I’m the manifestation and expression of divinity. I go forth today, conscious of my identity as an offspring of the Word, with the incorruptible life of God in my spirit,

in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
