Get Heaven’s Attention

Get Heaven’s Attention!

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ”

(Philippians 3:7-8)

People live for different causes. Some are in the forefront of laudable endeavours that seek to improve the general wellbeing of mankind. Many nations for instance have national heroes, who through their selfless activities, helped to reform and reorganize their societies. But what does God think? What does He consider as truly important? What gets Heaven’s attention?

From the Scriptures, we know that the greatest passion in God’s heart is having men receive eternal life. That’s why He sent His Son, Jesus, to the world. He didn’t send Him to be a social reformist or a politician; rather, He sent Him to give us eternal life: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

This isn’t to say however that it’s wrong to advocate for the good that’ll move your nation or society forward. But it’s important for you to get your priorities right. The Bible says:“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness…” (Matthew 6:33). As good and noble as your intentions and pursuits may be, if they don’t culminate to the salvation of souls, it doesn’t get heaven’s attention. Heaven recognizes those who have made soul-winning a priority; who promote the Gospel of Christ.

The Bible says:“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). Kingdoms have come and gone; great men of war and mighty men of peace have all come and gone, and more will still come. But there’s a lasting work that heaven recognizes; it’s that work done with the motive of pursuit of the Gospel. Any work or endeavour that isn’t based on the furtherance of the Gospel only has record on earth and honoured by men.

Instead of living solely for a transient cause that has no eternal value, put God’s work first in your life and let everything else follow after. Make God’s dream your dream.

Confession

Dear Lord, my life is for your glory. The Gospel is all that I live for; it’s my number one priority. While I passionately seek the advancement of my society and mankind at large, I do not forget my real purpose, which is to ensure that men receive eternal life; and I’m going about it passionately today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
