Revival From Within

Revival From Within

“… Stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination] (2Timothy 1:6AMP).

In Psalm 85:6-7 the psalmist cried out to the Lord: “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” Also he said in Psalms 138:7:“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.”  Like David, in these two Psalms, some of the great Prophets of the Old Testament usually would look up to God to revive them in times of discouragement or despair.

However, today in the New Testament, we don’t pray or cry to God for revival; we’re revived from within. The Lord spoke through the Prophet Isaiah about this new kind of revival for the new creation:“For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, this is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they will not hear”(Isaiah 28:11-12).

Acts 1:8 says “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” So it’s no use looking up to heaven for God to send down revival, for the Lord of revival—the Holy Spirit—lives in the quarters of your heart. The Apostle Paul realized this great blessing and advantage of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the believer when he said “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself….” (1 Corinthians 14:4).

By the revelation of the Holy Spirit, Paul shows that when you speak in other tongues, you charge up, build up, overhaul, refresh and revive yourself:“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” (Jude 1:20). You stir up the power of God that’s resident in your spirit as you pray in other tongues. There’s an automatic conversion of that latent power of the Holy Spirit in you to an active, lively and dynamic force.

So today, you can trust the Holy Spirit to bring that deep excitement, inspiration, motivation, exuberance and fervency for the things of God into your spirit, as you pray in other tongues and fellowship with Him.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for teaching me how to activate the power of the Holy Spirit that’s in me. I ignite that latent power today as I speak in tongues, and declare that I have the divine strength and enablement I require to accomplish all that you’ve planned for me to accomplish today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
