Make Definite Requests

Make Definite Requests

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God”

(Philippians 4:6 AMP(.

You have to be definite when making requests of the Lord in prayer; be specific; say exactly what you want. Not many know how to make definite requests to God in their times of need. They merely complain to Him, and eventually wonder why their prayers are not answered. If you’re going to take advantage of God’s extraordinary power in overcoming life’s adversities, you must learn to be definite in prayer.

In Mark 10:46-52, we find the story of a blind man named Bartimaeus, who repeatedly cried out to Jesus to have mercy on him. Naturally, you would have expected the Master to immediately approach Bartimaeus and heal him of his blindness. But He didn’t! Rather, He asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” Strange! Even though it was obvious the man was blind, Jesus still wanted him to express his faith in specific terms. In response, the blind man said, “I want to receive my sight.” The Lord’s ensuing statement was “Receive your sight!” and Bartimaeus was miraculously healed.

What God wants isn’t for you to cry to Him about your situation, but to express your faith when you pray. Faith makes you a possessor! When you have made your definite requests of the Lord, give Him glory and keep your switch of faith turned on. Act like Abraham, who “…staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”

Prayer

Dear Father,

I declare that my faith is built strong and producing greater results today, as I’m guided and inspired by your wisdom to make the right requests in prayer, with the accurate understanding of the Word,

in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
