Preach The Gospel
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”
Your main purpose on earth is to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible describes the gospel as the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. In other words, God’s power to save, help, and deliver is in the gospel. All a man needs is to hear and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, and no matter how lost in sin or how deep in evil he may have been, he’ll be changed forever.
This was what Christians in the early Church knew that made them preach the gospel with boldness and confidence. They were arrested, beaten, and even killed for the gospel’s sake, all because of their conviction that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Despite the fierce opposition and persecution they faced for preaching the gospel, they were not deterred; rather, they boldly preached the Name of Jesus (Acts 5:41).
Their suffering was however not in vain. The Bible also lets us know that they“…went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following”(Mark 16:20). Everywhere they preached the gospel, there was a mighty demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1 Corinthians 2:4). This was the experience of the early Church.
The same message the apostles preached, which Jesus Himself began both to do and teach, is what we have the privilege to take to our world today. And thanks be unto God, who still confirms our preaching of the gospel today with mighty demonstrations of power. What an honour it is for us to be bearers of the glorious gospel of the blessed Lord Jesus Christ in our generation! There’s no better reason for living than to preach the gospel.
I thank you for counting me worthy to entrust me with the glorious gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. I’m ever-conscious of the necessity that has been laid on me to preach the gospel. Therefore I pray, that through the preaching of the gospel, the revelation of your love, grace and mercy will mantle the hearts ofthose whom you’ve ordained to hear and receive the gospel through me, and other believers all over the world, today,
in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
