Power To Do, And Power To Effect Changes

Power To Do, And
Power To Effect Changes
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth
(Acts 1:8).
Literally, “power” means the possession of controlling influence, superiority or authority. When you study in the King James Version of the Bible, two different words are translated “power” in the Greek. The first is “exousia,” and the second is “dunamis.” In Mark 6:7, the Bible says “And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits.” The Greek word for “power” here is “exousia,” and it means “authority.” So, Jesus gave us authority over unclean spirits.
Then in Acts 1:8, another Greek word: “dunamis” is translated “power.” Let’s read it: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you….” “Dunamis” refers to divine energy, might, strength for wonderful works, efficiency, or miracle-working ability. It means inherent power, or the dynamic ability to cause changes. This power is what you received when the Holy Spirit came to live in you.
From the foregoing, we see that the Christian has both “exousia” (authority) and “dunamis,” the dynamic ability to cause changes. Thus, you can do supernatural things (power to do), and you can make supernatural things happen (power to effect changes). Now that you’re born again, Christ lives in you, and He has empowered you for the transcendent life. He’s given you the spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
In Luke 10:19, Jesus said “Behold, I give unto you power (Greek: ‘exousia’, authority), to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power (Greek: ‘dunamis’, ability) of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” You have the authority to control and tame Satan and his cohorts; you can put them in check! You’ve been empowered with authority to do the impossible, and filled with the dynamic ability to cause changes as you desire. This power will work anywhere, and under any circumstance: put it to work in your family, finances, job, health or in your business.
Prayer
Dear Father,
I thank you for empowering me with supernatural ability to do the impossible, and also to effect changes. I take full advantage of my authority in Christ and declare peace, prosperity, progress, and increase for me, my loved ones, and my country, today,
in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
