Living To Reign

Living To Reign
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).
Righteousness is the nature of God; it is the rightness of God in the human spirit. It is the quality of conformity to truth or the revealed divine will. It is the ability in the human spirit to do right. Righteousness gives us the ability to stand in the presence of God without guilt, inferiority, or condemnation. How beautiful to know that we’ve been given righteousness as a gift from God. Read our opening verse again and meditate on it.
The Amplified Version renders the latter part of it beautifully, letting us know that having received the wonderful gift of righteousness, we’re to reign as kings in life: “… much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favour) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life ….” This is talking about reigning in the earth. We’re not going to reign in heaven because we won’t have subjects to reign over in heaven. The Apostle Paul is talking about a kingly life in the earth.
Revelations 5:10 says, “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Also, Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power….” You’re a king; your word has power. The Word in your mouth against adverse circumstances will surely prevail. When you command fear, sickness, disease or infirmity to go, they’ve got to comply. So, if you’re ever attacked by sickness or infirmity, refuse to fear; call it by name and command it to go, and it has to go.
When tests, trials, and tribulations come against you; when you’re confronted by the crises of life; don’t weaken out; don’t chicken out! Give the Word and effect a change! Mark 11:23 says you shall have what you say. Be bold to declare words of faith. By virtue of your righteousness in Christ Jesus, you can confront Satan and the cohorts of hell in boldness without any fear. Glory to God!
Prayer
Dear Father,
I thank you for the gift of righteousness that gives me the boldness to live joyfully every day, without guilt, inferiority or condemnation. Thank you for the ability in my spirit to do right and conform to the revealed divine will. I reign by grace in life, through righteousness,
in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
