Celebrate His Name
“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name” (Hebrews 13:15).
The Lord Jesus minced no words and was absolutely emphatic in His expression of love for the Father. He loved the Father so much and wouldn’t do anything but that which pleased the Father. His unparalleled love for the Father, and obedience to His will earned Him the Name that is above every name. The magnitude and extent of the power the Father vested in the Name of Jesus is described for us in Philippians 2:9-10: “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.”
This means “Jesus” is the Name heaven, earth and hell respond to. Everything is subject to His Name. For some people, that Name is just the name of a good religious leader; they’re yet to understand the authority, power, influence and dominion that the Name wields. The Father and the Holy Spirit both answer to the Name of Jesus. Colossians 1:19 buttresses this:“For it pleased the Father that in him (Jesus) should all fulness dwell.” No wonder Jesus dared to say in Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” That’s because the Name of Jesus is the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Our opening verse says“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”Here, the Spirit of God is talking about the name “Jesus.” He wants you to celebrate His Name in praise and through worship; to dance, laugh, sing and shout about the Name of Jesus. He wants you to be exuberant with praise about that Name. That’s how to minister to Him and celebrate His Name and His glory in your life!
As you make confessions to His Name, Jesus, being the Great High Priest, presents them before the Father, who receives your words of praise and worship as a sacrifice of a sweet-smelling savour. And what better time is there to do this than Christmas time! It’s the ideal season to celebrate and appreciate the Lord for the glorious life He’s brought us to, and the victory He wrought for us on Calvary! Offer Him words right now—the fruits and calves of your lips—words of worship that give glory to His wonderful Name, and eulogize His majesty!
Dear Lord Jesus,
I extol your mighty Name, for the whole of creation responds to your Holy Name. Your Name is a mighty instrument to bring about salvation to men, healings, and deliverance in times of trouble. I worship you today blessed Lord Jesus and declare that your Name will forever be glorified in my life, and in all the earth. Amen.
