Live On God’s Terms

Live On God’s Terms
“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you”
(John 15:19).
If you’re born again, then you’ve been called and chosen to live on God’s terms; that’s how the Message Translation renders the Scripture above: “If you lived on the world’s terms, the world would love you as one of its own. But since I picked you to live on God’s terms and no longer on the world’s terms, the world is going to hate you.”
All over the world, especially at this time of the year, many fret over what the coming year holds, especially with the dwindling nature of the world’s economy. Some are eager to know what their country’s budget will be, so they can evaluate how favourably or negatively it would impact on them as individuals or on their business. As a Christian, you don’t have to worry about such things. You play by a different set of rules; you function by divine principles. This is what it means to live on God’s terms; it’s living by God’s Word.
You’ve been separated from the world’s system. No austerity measure by any government can work against you, so never think, talk or live as a victim. Refuse to operate by the system of this world which is programmed to fail. The Bible says“you are a chosen race, a priesthood of kingly lineage, a holy nation, a people belonging specially to God, that you may make known the perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light” (1 Peter 2:9 MSG).
You’ve been separated from the general class, and chosen to reign as a king in life. Though you’re in the world, you’re not of the world. You’re a special breed; born into a kingly lineage, because you’re born of God. So live on God’s terms, by His Word, and not by the principles of this world.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus,
I thank you for choosing and separating me out of the world and its systems unto the transcendent life of God’s Kingdom, where I reign in life by your Spirit and through your Word. I refuse to operate by the principles and standards of this world, and declare that I can never be disadvantaged, amen.
