First-fruits Of His Creatures

First-fruits
Of His Creatures
“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures”
(James 1:18).
Our opening verse isn’t referring to everybody in the world, but those of us who are born of God; those to whom He gave birth through His Word! We are His crowning beauty! Little wonder He delights so much in us, and rejoices over us. Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing”. The fact that we’re born of God, having the same life with Him makes us peculiar. The plants and animals don’t have that life. Even the angels don’t have it, but we do, praise God!
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23). We have an incorruptible life, with the excellence of God in our spirits. We’re His workmanship; His handiwork. Revelations 4:11 lets us know He made us for His pleasure: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”.
Never see yourself as a nobody or a failure! You’re God’s choice-possession; His peculiar treasure; first-class all the way. The New Living Translation of our opening verse reads:“In his goodness he chose to make us his own children …and we, out of all creation, became his choice possession.” Out of all of creation, you’re topnotch; God’s number one. This is why He calls you “a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.” It means you’re the first and the best.
Prayer
Blessed heavenly Father,
I’m honoured and privileged to be called by your name, and be born of you! it excites my spirit to know that I’m the first and the best of all your creation. All things work together for my good. I thank you for making me a sharer of your glory and an associate of the divine nature,
in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
