God Is Love
“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love”
(1 John 4:8).
God is love! His nature, disposition and entire character is love. This is one revelation of God that every Christian needs to be acquainted with. Many don’t know just how much God loves them. The Spirit of God, through the Apostle Paul prayed that God will grant the Church the power to grasp how wide, long, high and deep the love of God is, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge (Ephesians 3:17-19 NIV). God’s love is so intense and infinite that it takes divine revelation to comprehend its immensity.
Call it inexplicable love and you won’t be wrong, for God’s love is beyond human reasoning. Just how could anyone explain the fact that while we were yet sinners and enemies of God Christ died for us? (Romans 5: 8). Nothing touches me more than God’s love for us! That’s my motivation, that’s why I do the things I do. I want the whole world to know about God’s unfailing and unreserved love for them.
Many run away from God, simply because they don’t know who He is. God is not judgment; He is love. God is not going to judge you on account of your sins anymore, because He already judged Jesus on your behalf. The punishment for your sin has already been laid on Jesus. I would to God that every sinner will hear and understand just how much God loves them! God detests sin, but He loves the sinner. They are the ones Jesus died for!
The Bible says, “for God so loved the world (not the world of things, but of men), that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16). I want you to notice He didn’t say, “for God so loved the righteous,” rather, it says “for God so loved the world”; the world of sinners. Of course God loves the righteous; He loves Christians—we’re His peculiar treasure—but His love extends to every human person on the face of the earth, even the atheist! This is the message of the Gospel. The sinner needs to know that God isn’t mad at him; neither does he have to pay for his sins, because Jesus already paid.
If perhaps, you’ve been feeling condemned on account of your sins, I want you to know that God loves you, and He’s not counting your sins against you. He says“though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18). You can call out to Him right now. Just say, “O, Lord God, I believe you sent Jesus to die for my sins, and that you raised Him from the dead for my justification. Therefore I declare that He’s Lord of my life and I’m now a brand new person; completely free from sin!”
Dear Father, I pray that the revelation of your love will increase in my life and in the lives of your children all around the world. I declare that by the help of your Spirit, we will walk, today and always, in the increased consciousness of your great love for us, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
