God Wants You Happy

God Wants You Happy
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created
(Revelations 4:11).
From our opening scripture we learn that God created all things, including man, for His pleasure. He made us to be happy about us, for Himself. He delights in us. He did this all by Himself and for Himself; so He could derive pleasure or enjoyment through us. He didn’t seek our opinion or permission. It therefore follows that the only way He could be happy and fulfilled about us is for us to meet His expectations; and part of His expectations is for us to live happily and joyfully for Him everyday.
God wants you happy always because you can’t make Him or others happy when you’re not happy yourself. In 1Timothy 6:17 we’re urged to trust in God who gives us all things richly to enjoy. He wouldn’t do this if He didn’t want you happy. Some believers however, are too carried away by the worries and cares of the present moment. They’re too overwhelmed by negative happenings around them that they fail to notice the opportunities for happiness and enjoyment that the Lord brings their way.
Take the story of Mary and Martha for instance, the Bible records that on a certain day, Jesus visited both sisters in their home. While Mary the younger of the sisters sat at the feet of Jesus to hear His words, Martha on the other hand was “encumbered about much serving.” She got upset that her sister didn’t join her in “serving” and complained to the Master. Jesus answered her thus:”… Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41-42).
Mary chose to delight herself in the Master and His words and this was well pleasing to the Lord. It’s important that you let nothing rob you of your joy. Deliberately practice how to enjoy your day, and relish every moment. Every day should be a good day for you. Learn to say like the Psalmist “This is the day which the Lord has made; I’ll rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
Prayer
Blessed heavenly Father, I’m so grateful to know that you delight in me, and made me for your pleasure. I give pleasure to you today by living joyfully, walking in your perfect will, and guided by your wisdom to impart joy to those I come in contact with today. Thank you for giving me all things richly, to enjoy, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
