God Is A Spirit

God Is A Spirit

“As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were”

(Romans 4:17).

The Bible says that God is a Spirit (John 4:24). This means that the realm in which He operates is the realm of the spirit, and to Him, things in that realm are more real than the things in the physical realm that we see. To Him, things that be not; things that don’t appear real in the physical realm have already come to pass. I’ll give you a good example of this, using the account of creation in Genesis.

Now, when you read Genesis Chapter one, without studying further, you may get the impression that when God said “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind,” grass immediately began shooting out of the ground and trees instantly sprang up. But as you study further in chapter two, you’ll find that even though God commanded the plants to come into being and saw that they were good, they didn’t spring up immediately because He needed a man to till the ground, and rain to water them (Genesis 2:4).

Why then does the Bible say that everything God commanded to be, leapt into being? Where were they? They were in the spirit! As far as God was concerned, they were real. For example, when He said to Abraham, “I have made you a Father of many nations” (Romans 4:17), the man didn’t have any child, and was already well advanced in age—almost a hundred years old. His wife Sarah was barren, but as far as God was concerned, it was done. Abraham was already the Father of many nations.

So, when God says to you, “I have given you that job,” don’t just look to the physical structure of the organization to which you tendered an application. Receive it in the spirit first! How? By faith! Lay hold to that word because as far as God is concerned you already have the job, yours is to take possession. When He says “I have given you a child,” don’t look at your belly; receive it first in the spirit!

If you must have a fruitful walk with God, you have to learn to see what He has given you first in the spirit. If you don’t see it there, you’ll never see it in the physical realm, for He’s a Spirit and operates from the realm of the Spirit. That’s why in blessing us, He didn’t bless us with all the physical blessings in the world first, but with “all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 1:3). He did it that way because the spiritual is greater than the physical and gave birth to it.

Prayer

Dear Father,

thank you for enlightening the eyes of my spirit today, through your Word to see and receive every good thing that belongs to me in Christ Jesus. As I see them, I call them real and walk in the reality of your manifold and eternal blessings,

in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
