Be Reverent And Humble

Be Reverent And Humble
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…”
(Psalm 111:10).
“Fear” in the opening verse above doesn’t refer to being afraid of God, but to “godly reverence.” One sure sign of the working of the Holy Spirit in your life is that in every place and at all times you show reverence for spiritual things; plus that, you’re also humble. As long as you find a believer who still acts unruly, uses harsh, insulting, rude language, and is generally full of pride, such a person is yet to be yielded to the Holy Spirit. Humility and godly reverence are hallmarks of those who are full of the Spirit.
The measure of your humility is the true estimate of your spiritual maturity. When you yield yourself to the Holy Spirit to work in your life, He’ll produce humility in you and instill in you godly reverence. As this happens, you’ll find that your language is full of love; you become courteous and pleasant in your communication. People who meet you never forget the moment, because of the love, humility and godly reverence that you exude.
I urge you to examine yourself always, not to allow any root of pride that has defiled many spring up in your heart. The Bible says, God resists the proud, but He gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). If you want to function with and in God’s abundant grace, be reverent and humble. You must take this very seriously in your life this year, so you can burn and shine and manifest the light of the glory of God to your world as you should.
1 Peter 5:5-6 says, “Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”Take heed to these words. When you’re humble, the Lord will exalt you in due time. Remember, the Holy Spirit lives in you, thus you have in you the ability to walk in humility and godly reverence.
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
I thank you for the presence of your Spirit in my life, and His ability to produce humility and godly reverence in me! I’m yielded to you today and therefore know that the humility of Christ and the Spirit of the fear of the Lord are manifested in me,
in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
